Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police have released sketches of four Pakistani terrorists hidden in Kathua district and have announced a reward of Rs 500,000 each for credible information leading to their arrest. The terrorists are reported to be hiding in the remote areas of Exercise, Bani, and Seojdhar.
Police have urged the public to remain vigilant and report any sightings or suspicious movements of these terrorists to the authorities.
The incident follows a series of brazen terrorist attacks in the Jammu mountain ranges during June and July, including a deadly ambush in makhedi Kathua area that claimed the lives of five army soldiers and injured five others on July 8.
Earlier, police had released sketches of terrorists involved in attacks in Reasi and Doda, announcing generous rewards of ₹20 lakh for information leading to their capture.
With this latest move, the Jammu and Kashmir Police is seeking to intensify its crackdown on militant groups operating in the region, restore peace and stability and ensure public safety.
Police are appealing to the public for any information on these terrorists and to help bring them to justice.
Last month, five Indian Army soldiers were killed in action after terrorists ambushed their vehicle in the remote Machedi area of Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir. Five soldiers were reportedly injured in the terror attack. The ‘Kashmir Tigers’, an allied group of the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), claimed responsibility for the attack.
Since 2021, Indian security forces have lost around 125 personnel in Jammu and Kashmir, with at least 52 of them killed in the Jammu region.
