Jamshedpur News: Skipping glaucoma medication can cause blindness: Dr Ajay

Jamshedpur News:

Glaucoma is a disease that affects the eyes, if left untreated the patient may lose vision. These things were said by ophthalmologist Dr Ajay Kumar Gupta, who was present at the seminar organised by the Jamshedpur Ophthalmological Society at a hotel in Golmuri on Saturday. He said that glaucoma patients should be given eye drops with preservatives. Many glaucoma patients stop putting the medicine in their eyes midway due to which they may lose their eyesight. By keeping drops in the eyes, the patient can save their eyesight. While explaining about the titanium injectable implant for glaucoma, Dr Ajay Kumar Gupta said that by implanting it in the inner part of the eye, there is no need to take glaucoma medicines for a year. In case of eye diseases, medicines have to be given for a long time which causes a lot of problems to the patients, that is why injectable implants are being researched. He said that the medicine is embedded in the titanium implant so that it keeps releasing a certain amount of medicine inside the eyes. Dr Pooja Kumari, Senior Eye Surgeon, Telco Hospital said that before the LASIK operation to remove glasses, the eyes need to be examined using a Pentacam machine. Dr Pooja gave information about the intricacies of the LASIK operation. During this time, Dr Vibhuti Bhushan, Dr Rajan Verma, Dr Poonam Rawat, Dr Anjali Singh and other ophthalmologists from the city were present.
