Patna:Local RJD leader and councillor named Pankaj Rai was shot dead in BiharAn attack took place near his residence in Hajipur on Tuesday.
Three men on a motorcycle chased Rai as he fled towards his residence fearing foul play and began shooting at him indiscriminately. Mr Rai, a newly elected councillor and member of the Lalu Prasad YadavThe Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader fled to his home for safety.
However, the attackers got off their horses and followed him inside, where they fired several shots. The councillor for district 5 was hit three times. Hearing the shots, his family and local residents rushed him to the hospital, but doctors declared him dead on arrival.
RJD leader and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav accused Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar and the ruling National Democratic Alliance (Confidentiality Agreement) of failing to maintain law and order in the state.”Confidentiality Agreement thugs led by Nitish Kumar “Councillor Pankaj Rai was shot dead in Hajipur in the evening. The chief minister and two deputy chief ministers are sleeping peacefully while his goons are creating mayhem,” Yadav said.
Rai went to the police and lodged a complaint regarding a dispute that had taken place six months before his murder, according to the police. However, the police did not take any action on the complaint lodged by him, the family said.
RJD MP Mukesh Roshan visited the hospital and criticised… Nitish Kumar on the law and order situation in the state, describing the killing as a failure of governance.
“Pankaj Rai was an active member of the RJD. His murder is a testimony that legislators are not safe inside their own homes. It is a ‘jungle’.Raj’ in Bihar. ” said RJD MP Roshan
