India’s best pacemaker jasprit bumrah He will only return to international cricket for the three-match Test series against New Zealand and the decision to play against Bangladesh rests with him, according to a report in PTI suggests. The report adds that the Indian team management and selectors are looking to introduce more variations in the pace attack and hence a left-arm seam and swing bowler may be added among the number of pace players eyeing a Test spot.
In terms of exposure and experience, selectors have two options: Arshdeep Singha regular in T20Is and the erratic and injury-prone Khaleel Ahmed.
Bumrah last played for India in the T20 World Cup, where he finished as Player of the Tournament with brilliant bowling figures throughout.
“In Bumrah’s case, he knows his body best and it will be up to him if he wants to play in the Tests against Bangladesh. The team management and selectors are very clear that India needs a 120 per cent fit Jasprit Bumrah for the five Tests against Australia Down Under,” a BCCI source said. PTI-English.

Apart from Arshdeep and Khaleel, Yash Dayal is also mentioned as an option, although he is behind in the pecking order among the three.
Meanwhile, several senior Indian players will play in the Duleep Trophy next month, though the likes of Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ravichandran Ashwin and Bumrah have been rested.
The tournament will feature international stars like Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, top all-rounders Ravindra Jadeja, Axar Patel, wrist spinner Kuldeep Yadav and pacer Mohammed Siraj.
The Duleep Trophy begins on September 5 in Bengaluru, with Shubman Gill’s Team A taking on Abhimanyu Easwaran’s Team B.
