JNVST 2024: Navodaya Vidyalaya Samiti (NVS) is accepting online applications for the Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya Selection Test (JNVST 2024) for admission to Grade 6 in over 650 NVS located across the country. Eligible and interested candidates can apply for the examination on the official website of NVS, navodaya.gov.in.

The application deadline for the Class 6 entrance exam is September 16. Here are ten important points that candidates and their parents should know before applying for the exam:

  1. While submitting the application form, candidates are required to upload these documents: Photo, Signature of parent and candidate, Aadhar details/Residence certificate and Principal verified certificate mentioning the candidate details in the prescribed format.
  2. The verification of the information provided by the parents will be carried out by the headmaster of the school where the candidate studied up to the 5th grade. The certificate must be uploaded in jpg format and between 10 and 100 kb only.
  3. A candidate who is currently studying in Grade 5 in a district will be allowed to apply for admission to a JNV in the same district only.
  4. The applicant must not have been born before May 1, 2013 or after July 31, 2015 (both dates are inclusive).
  5. The entrance exam will be held in two phases. The second phase of the exam will be held on April 12, 2025. The first phase of the exam will be held on January 18.
  6. The locations where the exam will be conducted in the first phase are Jammu and Kashmir (except Jammu-I, Jammu-II and Samba), Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim and in Dibang Valley and Tawang districts of Arunachal Pradesh, in Chamba, Kinnaur, Mandi, Sirmour, Kullu, Lahaul, Spiti and Shimla districts of Himachal Pradesh, in Darjeeling district of West Bengal and in Leh and Kargil districts of UT Ladakh.
  7. The first phase of the examination will be conducted in Andhra Pradesh, Assam, Arunachal Pradesh (except Dibang Valley and Tawang districts), Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Himachal Pradesh (except Chamba, Kinnaur, Mandi, Sirmour, Kullu, Lahaul and Spiti and Shimla districts), Jammu and Kashmir (for Jammu-I, Jammu-II and Samba only), Jharkhand, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Manipur, Orissa, Punjab, Rajasthan, Tripura, Telangana, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal (except Darjeeling), Union Territories of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Chandigarh, Dadar and Nagar Haveli, Daman and Diu, Delhi, Lakshadweep and Pudducherry.
  8. The selection test will last two hours. It will start at 11:30 a.m. and end at 1:30 p.m. on both days.
  9. The examination paper will consist of three sections and objective type questions. There will be 80 questions for 100 marks. Candidates can refer to the JNVST 2024 newsletter for more details.
  10. The result of the selection test is expected to be announced in March 2025 for summer JNVs (phase 2 of the examination) and in May 2025 for winter JNVs (phase 1 of the examination).
