Rape was confirmed in the medical examination of the minor victim in the Kannauj case, following which the police increased the rape charge against former block chief Nawab Singh Yadav. Earlier, in the statement given before the magistrate, the victim had also spoken of rape. Based on the victim’s statement, the police may tighten the noose on the aunt as well.
Kannauj SP Amit Kumar Anand said the victim confirmed the rape incident in her statement before the magistrate. He said, “With the confirmation of rape, charges have been added against the accused under the relevant section of the offence.”
According to the news agency, the SP said that the aunt who brought the victim to Nawab Singh was also called for questioning on Tuesday but she did not come before the police. He said that action will also be taken against the aunt of the minor victim in the case. A case will be registered and the police are currently looking for him.

Nawab’s petition to be heard today
According to the police, the accused is the principal of a private college and had called the girl and her aunt to the college on Sunday night on the pretext of helping her get a job. Officials said the bail application of the accused will be heard in the court of POCSO judge Alka Yadav on Wednesday, i.e. today.

Police say the victim had called her aunt for help. Apart from this, the aunt did not protest even after the door was opened, but instead started explaining to the victim and engaged in conversation with Nawab Singh.

Meanwhile, the victim’s aunt Pooja Tomar has claimed that Nawab Singh is being framed. She said that on the night of the incident, I was returning from Lucknow with my niece and had gone to the college to meet Nawab Singh and express my condolences on the recent demise of her mother. The girl has made the allegation out of mischief. She also said that only three to four SP Brahmin leaders are involved in the conspiracy, but she avoided giving their names and promised to reveal them later.

The Samajwadi Party has distanced itself from the accused Nawab Singh. Kannauj district SP president Kaleem Khan said that Nawab Singh is not in the party at the moment. Along with this, she has also demanded to conduct narco tests on the victim and the accused.
