Prime Video has announced the Indian adaptation of the world’s critically acclaimed game of trust and deception, “The Traitors.” Prime Video India will collaborate with leading independent distributor All3Media International for the local adaptation of the BAFTA and Emmy award-winning global IDTV format, produced by BBC Studios India Productions, and will host the original unscripted reality show.
What is the reality show ‘Los Traidores’ about?
The thrilling and captivating Original Series is the ultimate game of trust and deception that challenges its players’ intellect, wit and strategic prowess as they compete for the grand cash prize. 20 players arrive at a royal palace in the hopes of winning the cash loot accumulated through various physical and psychological missions they undertake. Players will be identified as “innocents,” but unbeknownst to them, some of them will be the “traitors,” carefully and secretly chosen at the start of the show by the host. In a game of vicious twists and turns, ruthless deception and constant manipulation, the traitors must eliminate the innocents… unless the innocents can identify them before it’s too late! The Indian adaptation of The Traitors promises to be an entertaining and thrilling experience for audiences around the world.

What Karan Johar has to say about hosting another reality show

The success of The Traitors
Since its launch in the Netherlands on RTL 4 in 2021, the format has proven its international appeal with over 25 adaptations and numerous returning seasons. Successful international adaptations of the format include the Emmy-winning US version for NBC Universal’s Peacock streaming service and BBC One’s BAFTA-winning version in the UK, which attracted 8 million viewers for the season 2 finale. The US versions will return for a third season and the UK version has been commissioned for a fourth season and a celebrity-featured version.
The Traitors, a ratings hit that has won several awards, was recently named Format of the Year 2024 by K7 and received the C21 International Format Award for Best Presenter of a TV Format. Previously, the Dutch version “De Verraders” received the Rose d’Or “Golden Rose” for Best Reality and Factual Entertainment. A successful line of merchandise for The Traitors is also available.
