Former West Indies cricketer Kieron Pollard created history by hitting Afghan spin wizard Rashid Khan for five sixes in The Hundred.
Playing for the Southern Brave, the former West Indies captain hit Trent Rockets bowler Rashid for five maximums in his set to inspire his side to a 2-wicket win. Pollard has now become the first player to hit every ball in a T20 over and a set in The Hundred for sixes.
Pollard struggled early in his innings as he was unbeaten on 6 off 14 balls. The game looked to be slipping away from the hosts and they needed 49 off the last 20 balls when Rashid came in for his final set.
Pollard bowled the Afghan spinner all over the pitch to score 30 in the set and reduce the equation to 19 needed off the last 15 balls. While Pollard departed for 45 off 23 balls, Chris Jordan held his nerve and took the hosts home on the penultimate ball with a maximum.

Pollard had struck before Akila Dananjaya for six sixes in an over against Sri Lanka in a T20I contest in 2021.
“At some point I had to make a play. I started off really slow, but I didn’t think it was a pitch I could go in and hit the ball on, so I had to really work hard and calculate and pick my pitcher.
“I’ve played against Rash a lot and he’s run me out a lot of times so I had to see what was going on but I knew the kind of line and length he was going to bowl. If I bowled full force I was going to go with my strength which is to hit straight and he bowled three balls fuller and right on my arc. I couldn’t stop at that point, I had to get the most out of it. Rash is a world class bowler but this was just one of the days where I got the win,” Pollard said after the match.
