Disney PlusThe latest four-episode K-drama thriller, The Tyrant, began its dark journey on August 14. Kim Seon Ho He finally returned to the small screen for the first time after making his big screen debut with The Childe in 2023. Fans of the beloved South Korean star will be in luck from 2024 to 2025 as he will be appearing in quite a few projects in the near future.
The spy thriller, which also stars Cha Seung Won, Kim Kang Woo, and Jo Yoon Su, was directed by Choi Woo Sik-starrer The Witch director Park Hoon Jung. Similar to the film’s narrative approach, the K-drama follows a similar perspective, and it has already made its way into the top 5 of the weekly Most Buzzworthy K-Dramas list, curated by Good Data Corporation.
According to the August 20 update announcing the chart rankings for the third week of August, The Tyrant debuted at No. 5 in the TV-OTT category with a popularity score of 7.71%.

However, the big winner this week was tvN. Love next door (streaming on Netflix). The romantic comedy starring Jung Hae-in and Jung So Min first made the list last week ahead of its official premiere and have now moved up a few spots, almost clinching the final win. Although SBS’s Good Partner ranked at the top of both the TV-OTT and TV categories, tvN’s drama took a significant hit, moving up three more spots to reach the No. 2 spot.
Additionally, the series’ lead couple Jung So Min and Jung Hae In dominated the drama’s actor popularity rankings at No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. It is also trending on Netflix. The streaming platform’s Global Top 10 ranking for non-English-language TV titles warmly welcomed it at No. 5. In its first week on the list (August 12-18), the drama racked up 1.1 million views, with 2.7 million hours watched.
Your network colleagues, Chae Jong Hyeop and Kim So Hyun of Serendipity’s Embrace dropped to fourth and fifth place after remaining at the top last week. However, their impact cannot be ignored, considering that the series already concluded on August 13, but they have yet to leave the list.
