Kolkata doctor rape and murder case: What happened that night at RG Kar hospital; DNA decoded | India News

The incident at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata has sparked widespread outrage and mistrust. The victim’s family claims that the hospital initially misled them, claiming that their daughter was ill and had committed suicide. The police reportedly put pressure on the family to resolve the matter, further aggravating suspicions of a cover-up.

The Calcutta High Court has taken these allegations seriously and questioned the actions of the police and the role of the director of the RG Kar Medical College, Sandeep Ghosh, who resigned but was quickly appointed to another centre. The court has also ordered that the case be transferred to the CBI, citing concerns over the integrity of the investigation.
In today’s episode of DNA, Zee News looks at the series of horrific events that occurred on the night of August 8 and 9.
On the night of 8-9 August, four junior doctors, including the victim, were watching the Olympic Games in the hospital’s seminar room. They had ordered food from outside and were particularly engrossed in the javelin throwing event. After the event was over, the other doctors left, leaving the victim to study. She eventually fell asleep in the seminar room and at around 3am, some doctors saw her sleeping there.
