New Delhi: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has intensified its investigation into the alleged rape and murder of a Kolkata-based postgraduate trainee (PGT) doctor at the RG Kar Medical and Hospital. So far, 42 people, including prime accused Sanjay Roy and former hospital director Dr. Sandip Ghoshhave been questioned by the investigation agency. Meanwhile, the CBI had alleged in the Supreme Court that there was an attempt to cover up the rape and murder of the resident doctor.

Appearing before the Supreme Court on behalf of the investigation agency, Solicitor General Tushar Mehta told a bench headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) DY Chandrachud that senior doctors at the hospital as well as colleagues of the victim had requested a videography.

Here is the list of people questioned by the CBI in the case:

1. Sanjay Roy (main accused).

2. Dr. Sandeep Ghosh (former director, questioned six times).

3. Witness who saw the body first.

4. The victim’s parents.

5. Assistant superintendent who called parents twice.

6. Former head of the thoracic department.

7 to 10: Four of the victim’s companions who had dinner with her.

11 to 14: Three forensic doctors who performed the autopsy.

15 : ASI Arup Dutta – He was questioned twice for his alleged proximity to accused Chief Minister Sanjay Roy

16 to 20: Four private security guards who were on night duty

21 : Witness who met Sanjay Roy on the night of August 8. He asked the accused for help in conducting certain tests on a relative.

22-24: Area police officials who reached the crime scene first, including Tala Police Officer In-Charge Sanjiv Mukharjee.

25 to 35: Hospital staff.

36 to 42: Construction workers who came to carry out renovation work.

On Thursday, a Supreme Court bench comprising Chief Justice Chandrachud and Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra began hearing the ape murder case in Kolkata. The ape court on Tuesday constituted a 10-member National Task Force (NTF) to formulate a protocol to ensure the safety of doctors and other healthcare professionals.

The CBI has submitted its report on the status of the investigation into the Kolkata rape and murder case to the Supreme Court. The agency has submitted the report in a sealed envelope mentioning everything it has found so far in the case, which has enraged medical professionals and citizens for days.

On the ninth day of investigation into the case, the central investigation agency questioned 42 people, including former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital Sandip Ghosh and the main accused Sanjay Roy. During the interrogation, the agency was informed that the victim was last seen alive, sleeping on a mat, at 3 am, sources told Times Now.

The alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at a postgraduate training centre in a government hospital has sparked protests across the country. The body of the trainee doctor with severe injury marks was found inside the training centre of the chest department of the hospital on August 9. A civic volunteer, Sanjay Roy, was arrested by the Kolkata Police in relation to the case of the following day.
