The West Bengal government has formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT) led by IPS Dr Pranav Kumar to probe alleged financial irregularities at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital. It has been formed after allegations surfaced against former principal Dr Sandip Ghosh.
The team formed by the West Bengal Police will be headed by IPS officer and Inspector General of Police Dr Pranav Kumar. The team will also include members like Murshidabad Range DIG Waqar Raza, CID DIG Soma Das Mitra and Kolkata Police DCP Indira Mukherjee. This team has been entrusted with the task of investigation to ensure transparency and accountability within the institution.
Sandeep Ghosh may also undergo polygraph test
The CBI is also investigating against Sandeep Ghosh and the agency wants to conduct a polygraph test on him as well. For example, discrepancies have been found in the statements of the victim’s family and the former principal of the hospital, Dr. Sandeep Ghosh. Due to the different statements, it is being said that the CBI can conduct his polygraph test. However, the approval for his polygraph test has not been received from the court yet.
‘Hang him or do whatever you want’, said Sanjay Roy’s mother-in-law
The court has approved the polygraph test of Sanjay Roy. After this, he will be investigated and it will be ascertained how much truth is there in his statement. Accused Sanjay Roy’s mother-in-law says, “There was a very strained relationship between me and him. He had been married for 2 years. This was his second marriage to my daughter. Initially, everything was fine for 6 months. When she was 3 months pregnant, she got an abortion done.”

She said, “He (Sanjay Roy) beat her (my daughter), a police complaint was also lodged in this matter. After this my daughter started falling ill, I bore all the expenses of her medicines… Sanjay was not good. Hang him or do whatever you want. I will not say anything about the crime. He cannot do this alone. He does not have the capacity to do this alone…”
