Lebanon’s health ministry has issued an urgent appeal to all citizens to throw away their pagers following a series of devastating explosions on Tuesday. The blasts, which involved wireless pagers, left at least nine people dead, including a child, and 2,750 others injured, of whom 200 are in critical condition.
Health Minister Firas Al-Abiad, speaking at a press conference in Beirut, detailed the scale of the disaster and highlighted the large number of injured and casualties caused by the explosions that occurred in several locations in Lebanon. The ministry’s warning responds to the significant risks associated with the continued use of these devices.
In an earlier statement to Anadolu, Minister Al-Abiad described the explosions as having grave consequences for the entire country, with hundreds injured. The call for the elimination of pagers is aimed at avoiding further incidents and ensuring public safety following this tragic event.
