The historic London venue has hosted England women’s limited-overs matches in each of the past three seasons, but never a Test match.

It has not yet been announced whether the test will last four or five days.
“Young girls playing across the country can now aspire to play Test cricket in the homeland of cricket,” said former England player Claire Taylor, chair of the Marylebone Cricket Club’s cricket committee. “It’s a clear demonstration that cricket is a game for everyone.”

Richard Gould, chief executive of the England and Wales Cricket Board, said it would be a “truly special occasion and one of real significance for the game”.
