Brij Bhushan, Co-Founder of Magicpin, Joins Prime Venture Partners as a Full-Time Partner

Brij Bhushan, co-founder and former COO of hyperlocal e-commerce platform Magicpin, has joined Prime Venture Partners as a full-time partner.

Prime Venture Partners, an early-stage venture capital firm, announced this strategic addition on Friday, highlighting Bhushan’s role in the firm’s investment, portfolio management and fundraising efforts.

The return of venture capital

Brij Bhushan is no stranger to the world of venture capital. Prior to co-founding Magicpin, he served as Vice President at Nexus Venture Partners, where he gained significant experience in the startup ecosystem.

“Joining Prime Venture Partners is like coming full circle. As a VC turned founder, I realized that early-stage startups need more than just investment – they need a true team member. Prime’s team, full of former entrepreneurs, has exemplified this over the past decade, and I deeply identified with their culture. After nearly a decade as a founder, I’m excited to be back in VC, where I can help founders navigate their paths, leveraging my experiences alongside a team that truly understands what it takes to get a company off the ground,” said Bhushan.

Bhushan’s role in Magicpin

During his tenure at Magicpin, Bhushan played a crucial role in the company’s rapid growth. Magicpin, which has grown to become India’s leading hyperlocal startup and the third-largest food delivery app, raised over $100 million under Bhushan’s leadership.

He was instrumental in securing investments from marquee companies like Lightspeed, Zomato and Waterbridge, which significantly boosted Magicpin’s market position.

Strengthening the Prime Venture Partners investment team

Prime Venture Partners sees Bhushan as a valuable addition to its leadership team, bringing a combination of strategic thinking, excellence in execution and a long-term vision.

Amit Somani, Managing Partner at Prime Venture Partners, said: “Brij Bhushan brings a unique combination of strategic thinking, execution excellence and a long-term mindset that are essential to the company’s development. We believe he is a perfect addition to our leadership team.”

Leadership expansion and future plans

In addition to Bhushan’s appointment, Prime Venture Partners also promoted Gaurav Ranjan, a long-time member of its investment team, to Chief Investment Officer.

Ranjan has been with the firm for six years, contributing to the evaluation of over 2,000 startups and working closely with several early-stage companies in the firm’s portfolio.

Prime Venture Partners, led by Sanjay Swamy, Shripati Acharya and Amit Somani, has invested in over 50 startups over the past 12 years.

With the addition of Bhushan, the firm aims to strengthen its position in the Indian VC and tech startup ecosystem, focusing on guiding companies through the various stages of growth, from early funding rounds to potential IPOs.
