Maharashtra BJP chief’s son’s car wreaks havoc in Nagpur

Nagpur News: The luxury car of Sanket, son of Maharashtra BJP chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule, created a ruckus in Nagpur. The car hit several vehicles in the Ramdaspeth area. Two persons, including the driver, have been arrested in the case. An officer from Sitabaldi police station gave information about the matter. He said that the Audi car first hit the car of complainant Jitendra Sonkamble and then hit a moped at late hours of 1 am on Sunday. In this, two youths travelling in the car were injured and are under treatment. The car hit other vehicles heading towards Mankapur area. There the vehicle hit a Polo at T-point. Their drivers chased the Audi car and stopped it near Mankapur bridge. Three persons in the car, including Sanket Bawankule, fled.

The police officer said that the driver of the car, Arjun Haware, and another person, Ronit Chittamwar, were stopped by people travelling in a Polo car. They took him to the Tehsil police station, from where they handed him over to the Sitabaldi police for further investigation. The people travelling in the Audi car were returning from a beer hall in Dharampeth when the incident took place, though they did not provide any information on whether any of them was drunk or not.

The Sitabaldi police station official said that on Sonkamble’s complaint, a case of rash driving and other charges has been registered. Haware and Chittamwar were later released on bail. Further investigations are underway. Maharashtra BJP chief Bawankule, while talking to reporters about the incident, admitted that the Audi car was registered in the name of his son Sanket. The senior BJP leader said that the police should conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into the accident without any bias. The culprits should be booked and appropriate action should be taken against them. I have not spoken to any police officer. The law should be equal for all.
