Earlier in the day, Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner Milind Bharambe, Thane Additional Commissioner of Police (Administration) Sanjay Jadhav and Palghar Superintendent of Police Balasaheb Patil gave details of the recruitment drive for their units. There are 231 police posts in Mira Bhayander Vasai Virar police unit, for which we have received 8,423 applications, of which 6,900 are from men and 1,523 from women, the official said.

“In Thane, we have received 38,078 applications for 661 posts. Of these, 30,155 are male and 7,923 are female. Also, 1,527 applications have been received for 20 posts of driver, of which 1,408 are from male and 119 from female. In Palghar, we have received 3,577 applications for 59 posts,” the official said.

In Navi Mumbai, 5,984 persons, of which 4,622 are men and 1,362 are women, have applied for 185 posts of constable, he said, adding that the process includes physical tests, written examinations and interviews. As the field tests for the recruitment drive will begin from June 19 in various units across the state, there is a possibility of a candidate being called for the tests at two different locations, the official said.

“Keeping the situation in view, all responsible units have been instructed to give different dates for the tests on the request of the candidates so that they can appear at both the places. There should be at least a gap of four days for the tests at two different places,” he said.
