Black Rock and Microsoft plan to launch a fund of more than 30 billion dollars to invest in artificial intelligence infrastructure to build data centers and energy projects, the companies said Tuesday.

AI models, especially those used for deep learning and large-scale data processing, require substantial computational power, resulting in higher energy consumption.

The computational requirements for AI have dictated that technology companies connect thousands of chips into clusters to achieve the necessary amount of data processing power, leading to an increase in demand for these specialized data centers.

The investment vehicle, known as Global AI Infrastructure The investment partnership aims to help improve AI supply chains and energy sourcing, BlackRock and Microsoft said.

Abu Dhabi-backed investment firm MGX will be a general partner in the fund, while artificial intelligence chip company Nvidia will provide its expertise.
