Mines department official arrested in Odisha, property worth crores found

Odisha News: Dharanidhar Nayak, Deputy Director of the State Mines Department, working at Talcher in Odisha’s Angul district, has been arrested by Odisha Vigilance officials in a disproportionate assets case after assets worth crores of rupees were found in a raid.

The vigilance department raided Nayak’s hideouts.

According to information provided by the Vigilance Department, the Vigilance Department had raided several places of Nayak. During this time it was revealed that he had assets far greater than his income. These include two multi-storey buildings, a 3 BHK flat, worth approximately Rs 1.30 crore.

In Bhubaneswar, a 1,800 sq ft duplex, two market complexes with 19 shops etc. have been detected. Apart from this, besides 11 plots, deposits of over Rs 53 lakh, household articles worth Rs 53 lakh and cash worth Rs 9 lakh 85 thousand have been recovered from them.

Dharandhar Nayak could not give a satisfactory answer

Nayak did not give a satisfactory explanation regarding these properties and money. Following this he was arrested. He will be produced before the court today. The Cuttack vigilance police has registered a case against Nayak and will produce it before the court today.
