Till now, training was imparted in courses like Laboratory Technician, OT Assistant, Ophthalmology Assistant and X-ray Technician in the government medical college hospitals. Due to this, only a limited amount of manpower was available. Now, after the arrival of private sector training institutes in the state, comprehensive training courses in the paramedical field will be imparted. These institutions are affiliated to Bihar University of Health Sciences. Bihar University of Health Sciences is now offering courses like Certificate in Medical Dressing, Diploma in Medical X-ray Technician, Diploma in ECG Technician, Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology, Diploma in Physiotherapy, Diploma in OT Assistant and Diploma in Sanitary Inspector in the private sector. Training is being given. So far there are around 50 such private institutes in the state which have got recognition for training in paramedical courses with a capacity of 30 to 100 seats. There is a huge demand for paramedical staff in the government and private sector. Now their shortage will be met in Bihar. The state government has recognized new institutions in Patna, Darbhanga, Madhubani, Saran and other districts of the state.
