Former South African cricketer Morne Morkel has been appointed as the new bowling coach of Team India. According to Cricbuzz, BCCI Secretary Jay Shah confirmed the news of his appointment.
“Yes, Morne Morkel has been appointed as the bowling coach of the Indian senior men’s team,” Jay Shah told PTI.
Morkel’s term would begin on September 1, 2024.

Assistant Coach: Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate
Field Coach: T. Dilip
Morkel would bring a lot of fast bowling experience to the Indian team, which possesses some of the most lethal bowling in the world.

Morne Morkel has also worked with Gautam Gambhir in the past, with the Proteas spinner being Gambhir’s go-to player during his days at Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR). The duo also worked together in the coaching staff of Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), after which they went their separate ways.
Morkel had previously worked as Pakistan’s bowling coach during last year’s ODI World Cup in India but resigned from the role months before his contract with the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was due to end.
Gambhir’s coaching team also includes assistant coaches Abhishek Nayar and Ryan ten Doeschate. T Dilip, who was part of the previous coaching team under Rahul Dravid, will continue as the fielding coach.
Morkel will take over as the Indian team’s bowling captain from the outgoing Paras Mhambrey.
