Star motorcyclist dies aged 43 after horror crash at Manx Grand Prix

In an unfortunate incident, a motorcyclist died after a terrible car accident during qualifying for the Manx Grand PrixIrish Rider Luis O’Regan He was involved in a terrible accident at Kate’s Cottage corner on the 37.73 mile circuit.

The 43-year-old, who made his debut in 2013, is the third racer to die after recent incidents claimed the lives of Gary Vines and Ian Bainbridge in 2023. The Manx Grand Prix released a statement: “It is with great sadness that the organisers of the Manx Grand Prix can confirm that Louis O’Regan, aged 43, has died following injuries sustained in a crash at Kate’s Cottage during the opening qualifying session of the 2024 event.

“Louis, an Irishman living in Didcot, England, was an experienced Manx Grand Prix competitor, having made his debut in the 2013 Newcomers’ A Race, finishing 12th. He recorded his personal best lap speed in the 2019 Junior Race, lapping at an average speed of 114.7 mph.

We extend our sincere condolences to Louis’ partner, Sarah, his family, loved ones and friends.”

Racing is set to resume on Monday. Vine was reportedly the victim of a crash and new tyre rules were introduced after the horrific incident. A technical director is reported to have told the court that the rider had a six-year-old front tyre.

Rules were then introduced stating that a driver cannot have a tyre less than three years old.
