As Ganesh Chaturthi is just around the corner, the first look of Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani was unveiled on Saturday, August 31. This is one of the most famous pandals in Parel area of ​​South Mumbai. On its official social media account, it unveiled the most awaited Ganpati idol on Ganeshotsav 2024.

Ganesh Chaturthi, also known as Vinayaka Chaturthi, is a Hindu festival that celebrates the birth of Lord Ganesha. This festival is celebrated with much pomp and fervour in several states – Maharashtra, Gujarat, Odisha, Uttar Pradesh and Karnataka. This year, the celebration will be held for ten days, starting from September 6 and ending on September 17.

The Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani Aagman Yatra is expected to attract thousands of devotees from across the city. They will all gather in South Mumbai to witness the Chinchpokli Cha Chintamani Aagman Sohala 2024. Sharing the photos on social media is another way to attract large crowds.

Hindus celebrate Ganesh Chaturthi by installing clay idols of Ganesh in homes and public places. The festival concludes when the idol is taken in a public procession and immersed in a sea river. This is done on the day of Anant Chaturdashi. This process also creates traffic in Mumbai. Therefore, the Mumbai Police on Friday issued a traffic advisory.

In a traffic notification, the Mumbai Traffic Police said that on August 31, 2024, a Chitamani Ganpti Aagman procession is scheduled from 2.00 pm onwards on the following route Ganesh Takies (Parab Chowk) – Sane Guruji Marg- Gas Company Junction- Dr BARoad, South Bound- Sardar Hotel Junction- Dattaram Lad Marg to Chintamani Ganpati Mandal.

The traffic notice read: “A large crowd is expected to attend the aforesaid procession which may result in traffic congestion on the said route, therefore, in order to avoid any obstruction and inconvenience to the public, a traffic management order has been issued.”

According to the traffic police notice, the following routes may be closed when necessary after 2:00 p.m. on August 30 until the end of the procession on Saturday.

  1. Dr. BA Road, Northbound: Traffic from Hansraj Rathod Chowk (Bawla Compound Junction) to Comrade Krishna Desai Chowk (Bharat Mata Junction) will be closed.
  2. Dr. BA Road, Southbound: Traffic from Comrade Krishna Desai Chowk (Bharat Mata Junction) to Hansraj Rathod Chowk (Bawla Compound Junction) will be closed.
  3. Sane Guruji Marg-Comrade Ganacharya intersection (Chinchpokali intersection) with Saint Jagnade Maharaj Chowk (Gas Company intersection) will be closed (both directions).
  4. NM Joshi Marg- Gulabrao Ganacharya Chowk (Chinchpokli Junction) to Gangaram Talakar Chowk (S Bridge Junction), both in the city direction, will be closed for traffic where necessary.
  5. Mahadev Palav Marg (Curry Road) will be converted into a one-way street – the road will remain closed from Shingate Master Chowk to Comrade Krishna Desai Chowk (Bharat Mata Junction).
