Hartalika Teej 2024: In Muzaffarpur, the market was busy on Thursday for Teej and Chauthchandra puja shopping. Besides clothes, crowds gathered to buy puja material, kulhad and fruits. Apart from the puja material shops on both sides of the road from Saraiyaganj Chowk to Tower Chowk, there were good sales at the stalls decorated on the footpath.

Women kept shopping here from morning till late in the evening. Due to the crowd of customers, this road became congested many times. Apart from this, there was a rush at the grocery shops to buy flour, suji, dalda, refined ghee, sugar and dry fruits to make Teej Prasad. Due to the festival, the prices of fruits also increased significantly compared to other days. Devotees made purchases according to their capacity.

The red dahlia is the most sought after.

Red pulses were the most in demand for Teej in the market. There was a huge sale of pulses at the puja stalls set up in every locality. Every woman celebrating Teej bought at least two dahlias. There was so much demand in the market that many stalls ran out of packets. All the artisans in the city who make daura and soup were making daliya continuously for the last two months. There was good demand from town to town.

Craftsman Radhiya Devi said

On Thursday, there was a spike in the price of pulses in the market. The price of Dalia, which was sold at Rs 30 per pair, reached Rs 50. The artisans who made the basket were busy day and night painting it red after making it. Radhiya Devi, an artisan from Old Gudri Road, said that we are making Daliya for Teej. After two to four days, they will start preparing soup-daura.

Eight lakh kilos of apples were sold in two days

For Teej and Chauthchandra, the market committee sold eight lakh kilos of apples in two days. Four to six trucks of bananas have also been consumed. Apart from urban areas, there is good demand for fruits in rural areas for the festivals. Due to the increased demand, the price of fruits has also increased significantly in two days. Banana, which was selling at Rs 30 per dozen two days ago, was sold at Rs 60 per dozen on Thursday.

20 trucks of apples arrived from Shimla

This time, 20 trucks of apples have been unloaded from Shimla for the festival. Bananas are brought here from West Bengal and Assam. Pomegranates are also brought here from Maharashtra. Two thousand kilos of pomegranates are brought here in one truck. Traders from the market committee claim that the consignment of fruits has increased due to the festival. Currently, the fruit market is booming due to the festival.

There was a huge crowd of women at the tailor shop due to the festival. Apart from the women’s tailor shop that was functioning in the main market of the town, there was a crowd of women at the shops opened on the streets for Piku to stitch saris and blouses. Most of the women had come to buy saris and blouses, while some had come to stitch them.

Tailor Pooja Sahu of Jail Road said that orders for piku and blouses for the festival have been pouring in for the past one week. Many women also came on Thursday, but because there were more orders than before, they had to be turned away.
