Rourkela. The festival of Janmashtami was celebrated with reverence and devotion on Monday at Shri Krishna temples in Sundergarh district, including Rourkela. Devotees observed fast and worshipped Lord Krishna. Crowds of devotees were seen at temples in the city from the morning. Chants of Radha-Krishna kept reverberating in temples as well as in homes. There was a continuous flow of devotees till late night at Shri Radhakrishna temples located at different places in the city. The celebration of Janmashtami was witnessed by Yadav Vikas Samiti at Shri Radhakrishna temple located at Ambagan. Various religious rituals were organised at other temples, including Shri Radhakrishna Temple located in Sector-15. A large crowd of devotees was seen at the function organised by ISKCON on Janmashtami at Dev Bhoomi Socio-Spiritual Trust at Sharla Mandir in Block G of Sector-19 and at Trishakti Dham near Hanuman Vatika. Also, after the birth of Lord Krishna, at different places, women devotees swing Laddu Gopal, the infant form of Shri Krishna, in the cradle. Toddlers remained the centre of attraction in the tableaux of Radha and Krishna at Saraswati Shishu Mandir. The festival of Janmashtami was also celebrated with great enthusiasm at Shri Shyam temple located at Birsa Dahar. On this occasion, ‘Nand ke Ghar Anand Bhayo’, ‘Haathi Ghoda Palki’, ‘Jai Kanhaiyalal Ki’ continued to resonate in the religious rituals organised on the birth anniversary of Lord Shri Krishna at midnight in the temple premises along with the celebrations.

Shri Krishna Janmashtami was witnessed at the Radhakrishna Temple located at the Jagannath Temple of Fertilizer on Monday. Janmashtami is celebrated here by constructing a pandal since 1976. In which various religious and cultural programs are organized. The temple priest has said that on the occasion of Janmashtami, programs like Havan and Yagya will be organized at 12 midnight. The devotees and worshippers observing the fast will reach here from 8 pm on Monday night and worship. After which at midnight, all the devotees will offer food on the birth anniversary of Lord Krishna. After which they will break the fast by consuming Prasad. Similarly, last year also on Dumerta, the Janmashtami festival was celebrated at the Shri Radhakrishna temple located here. In which Charan Mahato, who was associated with the establishment of the temple, said that arrangements have also been made for devotees to consume Prasad here.
