Jack’s siege over demand for syllabus as per NCTET guidelines, Career News

Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JET) candidates surrounded the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) office on Friday. The candidates were angry over non-publication of the syllabus as per NCTE guidelines. Jack blocked the main gate and started raising slogans demanding that the responsible officer be produced. On receiving information, SI Jaidev Sarak reached the spot and pacified the candidates. The delegation of candidates was taken out to meet the JAC Chairman. The candidates submitted a memorandum in support of their demands. In this, they demanded to publish the syllabus in the examination as per NCTE guidelines and as per JET 2013 and 2016 and to end the requirement of sectional passes in all subjects.

The candidates said that as per the Teacher Eligibility Test Rules, 2014 and the instructions of the National Council for Teacher Education, NCTE, it is mentioned that the questions in Paper One will be based on the subjects which will be from the prescribed syllabus of the state for classes one to five. But their difficulty can go up to standard and intermediate linkage level.

At the same time, the questions in Paper 2 will be based on the subjects of the state curriculum for grades 6 to 8, but their level of difficulty and linkage can go up to the senior secondary level. While in Paper One of the JET syllabus released on August 21, the difficulty level of questions in Paper Two was kept as graded. This is a violation of NCTE guidelines. At the same time, regional languages have not been classified in the syllabus issued by the JAC. The syllabus for the General Studies subject has also not been provided.
