Neeraj Chopra said this about Vinesh Phogat

Now Neeraj Chopra has given a heart touching statement about Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat. Let us tell you that Vinesh was disqualified from Paris Olympics 2024. Before the final match of Women’s 50 Kilo Freestyle, her weight was 100 grams more than 50 kg. In such a situation, she was not allowed to compete against Sarah Ann Hildebrandt of America. Vinesh Phogat then appealed to the Court of Arbitration of Sport (CAS). CAS can give its decision on this today.

In an interview given at India Open House, Neeraj Chopra said, ‘We all know that if Vinesh gets a medal, it will be really great. If such a situation had not arisen, she would have won the medal. If we do not win medals, people remember us for a few days and say that we are their champions. But if we do not win medals, they forget us. This is what I fear. I just want to request people not to forget what she has done for the country.’

Neeraj Chopra’s mother had praised Pakistani athlete Arshad Nadeem. Regarding this, Neeraj said, ‘Whatever my mother says, she says from her heart. The family members of the athletes pray for their victory. As players, we (India and Pakistan) have always played with each other, but what happens on the border is a completely different matter. We want things to be peaceful, but it is not in our hands.’

Neeraj Chopra also posted on X, in which he wrote, ‘It felt great to win another medal for India in the Olympic Games. This time our national anthem was not played in Paris, but the hard work ahead will be for that moment.’

PR Sreejesh also gave a big statement

Veteran hockey player PR Sreejesh also gave a statement on Vinesh Phogat’s case. Sreejesh said, ‘What Vinesh Phogat has done is a big thing. She had to face a lot last year but she showed sportsmanship and reached the final of the Paris Olympics. It was really shocking for all of us to know that she did not get a medal after reaching the final. We all stand with her and pray to God that there is a positive result and we get the silver medal.’

Neeraj Chopra won the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. It was 7 August 2021. Neeraj Chopra threw 87.58 meters to win the gold medal in the Tokyo Olympics. But on 8 August in the Paris Olympics, Neeraj could not achieve the golden feat. Neeraj was not in touch except for one throw. Neeraj definitely threw 89.45 meters, which was his best throw in the Olympics so far.
