Nine people killed in Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon

Beirut: On Saturday, an Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon left at least nine people dead, including “a woman and her two children,” according to the Lebanese Ministry of Health. The attack, which took place in the Nabatieh area, about 12 kilometers from the Israeli border, also left five other people injured, two of them seriously.

The Israeli military said the attack targeted a Hezbollah weapons storage facility in the same area.

The attack comes amid ongoing exchanges of fire between Iran-backed Hezbollah and Israeli forces since the start of the Gaza conflict last October. International mediators are working to prevent a wider regional war through truce talks.
