Pakistan cricket has no future? PCB forced to sell broadcast rights for half the usual price, report says

Pakistan is currently taking on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series at home. While this is an extremely important series for Shan Masood’s men, what is surprising is that the series will not be televised or streamed in India. Following this, several reports indicated that there were no takers for the international broadcast of the series. Pakistan vs England series that is scheduled for October. After these two shocks, the Pakistan Cricket Board (printed circuit board) has received another bad news regarding the broadcast rights.
According to a PTI report, the PCB has sold the rights for its home international matches between August 2024 and December 2026 for almost half of its reserve price. While the initial price was PKR 3.2 billion, the PCB sold the rights of the Pakistan region for its international matches for PKR 1.72 billion, which is a whopping PKR 1.48 billion less.
However, the PCB has stated that the rights were sold at a price more than double the amount of the previous rights cycle (FTP 2021 to 2024).
The PCB has sold its broadcast rights for a period of 28 months to Pakistani consortium ARY and Tower Sports. The PCB said the rights were sold “following a transparent bidding process.”
The rights are for 11 Tests, including seven in the 2024-25 season, 26 ODIs and 24 T20Is.
Sky Sports did not bid for Pakistan-England series broadcast rights, report says
Sky Sports has traditionally broadcast all of England’s home and away series, including their 3-0 final scoreline Test series against Pakistan in 2022. Additionally, TNT Sport has also decided not to participate in the offering.
