Tata Trusts’ new chairman Noel Tata is likely to join the Tata Sons board as Tata Trust’s third nominee, sources told CNBC-TV18 on October 17.

Sources have indicated that the board of directors of Tata Trusts is expected to meet soon to decide on the appointment of a third representative to the board of directors of Tata Sons. Venu Srinivasan and Vijay Singh are the current nominees of Tata Trusts.

A comment is awaited from Tata Trusts.

Tata Sons board members currently include N Chandrasekaran, Ajay Piramal, Ralf Speth and Harish Manwani. Other board members are Saurabh Agrawal, Leo Puri and Anita Marangoly George.

Noel Tata, appointed chairman of Tata Trusts last week, is also chairman of other Tata Group companies, including Trent, Tata Investment Corp and Tata International, and vice-chairman of Tata Steel.

Noel Naval Tata assumed the chairmanship of Tata Trusts on October 11, 2024, succeeding titan Ratan Tata, who passed away on the night of October 9.

His appointment raised questions about his future participation on the boards of several Tata Group companies.
