Bihar Sports Academy: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar gave two gifts to the people of Bihar by inaugurating the Bihar Sports Academy and Sports University on Thursday. This is the fourth sports university in the country and the first sports university in Bihar including the Central Sports University. The Chief Minister inaugurated the State Sports Academy and University by cutting the ribbon and unveiling the foundation stone. This will not only make Bihar prosperous in the field of sports but youngsters here who want to make a career in the field of sports will no longer have to go to other states for training. By getting training here, they will get a chance to improve themselves.

Rajgir has a long career in the field of sports: CM

CM said that Rajgir has a long history in the field of sports. It was famous for wrestling even during the time of Magadha emperor Jarasandha. The Akhara of Jarasandha still exists as a heritage. Talking about the natural beauty and environment of Rajgir, he said that its foundation stone was laid on October 18, 2018. After the inauguration of the State Sports Academy and University, there will be an all-round development of Bihar in the field of sports. The Indore Games have been organised in five giant arenas in this sports academy. Apart from this, there are provisions for various types of outdoor sports, there are provisions for training, a world-class hockey ground and an Olympic-level swimming pool have been constructed at Rajgir. The sports academy and university have been constructed on an area of ​​72 acres. Likewise, an international cricket stadium is being constructed on 18 acres with a seating capacity of 40,000 spectators.

The building has been built following the architecture of Nalanda University.

The sports academy and the college building were built following the architecture of the ancient Nalanda University. It is built with red bricks and commemorates the gateway of the ancient Nalanda University. The Chief Minister said that a new trend in sports is being inaugurated in Bihar today. On this occasion, the Sports Department showed a mini financial overview about the Sports Academy and University. The Bihar government had announced “Bring a Medal, Get a Job” for the players who have performed excellently at the national and international level. So far 71 named players have been given jobs. Players from different fields said that today is a very auspicious day for Bihar. This is a great gift for the players of Bihar. In this way, the entire country is progressing in the sports field but now the players of Bihar will also get opportunities.

Separate dining areas in the academy building and in the hostel area.

An international sports complex has been constructed adjacent to Nalanda University and the proposed IT City and Film City near Rajgir. In this newly constructed State Sports Academy and University, apart from the administrative block, academic block, auditorium, meeting hall, central library, sports science laboratory, guest house, vice-chancellor’s residence, principal’s residence, residence of officials, employees and coaches, men’s and women’s hostels and transit hostels will be constructed. Apart from two electrical substations, a main receiving station, sewage treatment plant and water treatment plant have also been constructed in this complex. There is a supply of water from the Ganga for drinking by officials, teachers, employees and sports practitioners of various disciplines. A watch tower of more than 13 metres height has been constructed. A clock has been installed around this tower. Two canteens have been constructed in the sports academy. The canteen capacity of the academy building is 90 persons. A two-storey dining hall with capacity for 350 people has also been built in the hostel area. 350 players in training will have breakfast and lunch here.

After the inauguration of the hockey match, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar inspected the Sports Academy complex.
