1. Prepare the filling ingredients:

  • Add the shredded coconut and brown sugar to a pan.
  • Cook over low heat, stirring continuously until the brown sugar melts and mixes with the coconut.

  • Mix well and cook for 2-3 minutes until the mixture thickens slightly.
  • Remove from heat and let cool. Your modak filling is ready.

2. Prepare the outer dough:

  • Add a pinch of salt and 1 teaspoon of ghee to the rice flour.
  • Knead the dough and prepare it.
  • Cover the dough with a damp cloth and leave it for 5-10 minutes.

3. Shape the modaks:

  • Apply some ghee or water on your palms.
  • Take a small portion of the dough and shape it into a smooth ball.

  • Gently bring the edges of the disk together and pinch them together to form a peak at the top, enclosing the filling inside.
