Upon receiving the 2024 James Dyson Award, Komal expressed her happiness and shared that she was inspired to create Novocarry after witnessing her father’s daily struggle to store and transport insulin due to the lack of refrigeration in his office.

“My goal was to design a solution that would promote independence and peace of mind for people who rely on medications that require refrigeration,” Komal said.

Komal added that the recognition validates their design process and provides Novocarry with a global platform.

Sagnik Dey, a senior lecturer at the Centre for Atmospheric Sciences at IIT Delhi, said judging the 2024 edition of the James Dyson Prize nominations was both inspiring and challenging.

He said: “Each proposal demonstrated innovation and a deep commitment to solving real-world problems. The level of dedication of these young minds reaffirms the critical role that fresh perspectives and bold ideas play in advancing technology and improving lives.”
