Odisha govt to set up conference centre on Jagannath culture in Puri: Law Minister

Bhubaneswar: Odisha Law Minister Prithviraj Harichandan on Sunday said that an interpretation centre based on Sri Jagannath culture will be established in Puri. This interpretation centre will be established with an aim to provide information about Shri Jagannath culture to the entire world. People who do not have the right to enter the Shrimandir in Puri, will be able to experience the culture of Mahaprabhu by visiting this Interpretation Centre. At this interpretation centre, information about various rituals of Sri Mandir will be provided and Jagannath culture will be promoted among the devotees. Responding to queries from reporters on incomplete projects worth over Rs 2,200 crore in Puri, Harichandan described land acquisition issues as the main hurdle. He said that a part of the required land belongs to the Lord Jagannath temple administration, while the other part belongs to private individuals. After review, a clear plan has been prepared to take the projects forward. Odisha Bridge Construction Corporation (OBCC), the implementing agency of the project, has been informed about the decision. Discussions will be held with the affected people to find mutually acceptable solutions to address the challenges of land acquisition.

GPR survey of Sri Ratnabhandar Mandir to be conducted

Mr. Harichandan said that permission has already been granted by the government to shift empty boxes and shelves etc. from Ratna Bhandar. The work of repairing the gem shop and counting the gems will soon begin. Besides conducting a GPR survey, state-of-the-art technology will also be used to check the status of the gem stocks.

There is a plan to provide free Mahaprasad to devotees coming to Sri Mandir.

Shri Harichandan said that the State Government is working out a plan to provide free Mahaprasad to the devotees who come to visit Puri Shrimandir. Donors are being approached for free distribution of Mahaprasad to the devotees. Every day, 60 to 70 thousand devotees come to Puri Shrimandir for darshan of Lord Jagannath. Two to two and a half lakh devotees come to visit during various festivals and other special dates. Further arrangements are being considered to provide Mahaprasad to all the devotees.
