Badlapur rape case: Today Mahavikas Aghadi leaders are protesting against the rape case of two girls in Badlapur. Nationalist Congress Party (Sharad Pawar faction) president Sharad Pawar and Lok Sabha MP Supriya Sule held an hour-long silent protest in front of the statue of Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar located at Pune Railway Station. During this, both the leaders expressed their displeasure over the atrocities against women and girls in the state by tying black bands on their faces.

Shiv Sena (UBT) MP Priyanka Chaturvedi, on Shiv Sena (UBT) workers and leaders protesting the Badlapur incident, says, “There have been 12 incidents of atrocities against women and daughters in 10 days. Cases under the POCSO Act are being registered in Thane every day. We are opposing all this. After Uttar Pradesh, heinous crimes are being committed in Maharashtra too.”
Bombay High Court bans Maharashtra bandh
Mahavikas Aghadi had called for Maharashtra bandh on Saturday i.e. August 24 in connection with the Badlapur rape case. But the Bombay High Court on Friday, August 26, ordered to quash this decision of Maharashtra Bandh. The Bombay High Court had said that the Maharashtra bandh affects the daily routine of common people. Following this, Mahavikas Aghadi decided to protest peacefully.
