Through this a message will be given to those people of the society who leave their mothers in nursing homes at the end of their lives. This time the pandal will be decorated with clay models. Where the life cycle of the child growing in the mother’s womb and the life of the real mother will be shown along with the idol of Durga as a mother. For this purpose about 100 clay models are used. In the clay model an attempt will be made to depict the real picture of the life story of the mother from the life of the child in the mother’s womb. At the same time, in the current times, an effort will be made to surprise the new generation as to why the last days of a mother would be spent in an old age home. The organisers of the puja claim that the theme of the puja this time will teach the children of the new generation not to neglect their mothers. The theme of this occasion is expected to attract visitors. Committee secretary Saugata Banerjee said that this year is the 34th year of the public Durga Utsav. The puja committee has been attracting the attention of visitors through different themes. This committee involved in the big-budget puja in Durgapur has received many awards.

He further said that the puja mandap is decorated keeping in mind the objective of creating a beautiful and healthy society. Last year, a pandal was held on the theme of Chhaurupini Jagat Janani Maa, focusing on the Chhau folk dance. This year, the idol of Mother Goddess is being made. It is being made by the President Award-winning potters of Krishnanagar. Also, around 100 clay models of pregnant women and old women are being made at Patuli in Nadia district. Various materials such as plywood, plaster of Paris, iron rods and rubber tubes are being used to decorate the pavilion. The pavilion is decorated in the style of an old house. There will also be an old age home inside the pavilion.

The pavilion will be equipped with modern lighting. This year the puja budget is around Rs 20 lakh. Committee member Hemant Ghosh said that this time the Maa Durga pandal will be inaugurated on the third day of Shardiya Navratri. There will be cultural programmes at the Mandap intersection every day till Ekadashi. Another committee member Dhriti Bandyopadhyay (Jalan) said that around 50 women from the area will mainly be involved in organising the puja. The theme of this year’s puja is expected to give an educational message to the present society.
