Qamar Sheikh, who has been tying Rakhi to Prime Minister Narendra Modi considering him as her brother for the last 29 years, is once again preparing to go to Delhi to tie a Rakhi to PM Modi on the occasion of Raksha Bandhan. This will be the 30th consecutive Raksha Bandhan when Qamar Sheikh will tie a Rakhi on PM Modi’s wrist.

Qamar Sheikh was born in a Muslim family in Karachi city of Pakistan. In 1981, Qamar Sheikh married Mohsin Sheikh, since then she came and settled in India. Qamar Sheikh has been in contact with PM Modi since 1990 i.e. for the last 35 years. She considers PM Modi as her brother and PM Modi considers her as his sister. Keeping in mind the festival of Rakshabandhan, Qamar Sheikh makes Rakhi for PM Modi with her own hands and PM Modi gets Rakhi tied on his wrist by Qamar Sheikh.

I have made 8-10 rakhis to tie to my brother

Like every year, this time too Qamar Sheikh has made 8-10 Rakhis for PM Modi. Qamar told Aaj Tak that I do not buy Rakhi for my brother from the market, I make many Rakhis with my own hands every year before Rakshabandhan and in the end I tie the one I like the most on his wrist. This time, for the 30th year, Qamar Sheikh, who is preparing to tie a Rakhi to PM Modi, says that the Rakhi that I am going to tie to PM Modi this year, I have made on velvet. Pearl, Moti, Zardosi, Tikki have been used in the Rakhi. I have booked a ticket on 18th August, a day before Rakshabandhan, to go to Delhi to tie a Rakhi to PM Modi.

Rakhi could not be tied during corona

Qamar Sheikh said that before Corona, she herself used to go to tie Rakhi to the PM, but in the years 2020, 2021, 2022, due to Corona, she herself could not go to tie Rakhi to PM Modi, but in the year 2023 i.e. last year, she herself went to Delhi with her husband Mohsin Sheikh to tie Rakhi to PM Modi. Qamar Sheikh hopes that like every year, she will be invited on the day of Rakshabandhan this year as well. As a sister, Qamar Sheikh is praying for the good health of her brother PM Narendra Modi this year as always. She also says that the way PM Modi has done public welfare work for the last 10 years, he will continue it.

For 35 years, Qamar Sheikh has considered PM Modi as her brother

Talking about the brother-sister relationship between Karachi-born Qamar Sheikh and PM Narendra Modi that has existed for the last 35 years, Qamar Sheikh says that she met PM Narendra Modi for the first time in 1990 through late Dr Swaroop Singh, who was the Governor of Gujarat. When late Dr Swaroop Singh was leaving the airport, she went to meet him and Narendra Modi was also present there at that time. Swaroop Singh had then told Narendra Modi that Qamar Sheikh is his daughter. Hearing this, Narendra Modi had said that from today onwards Qamar Sheikh is my sister. Since then, I have been tying a Rakhi to him on the festival of Raksha Bandhan.

My prayers have been answered: Qamar Sheikh

Regarding the brother-sister relationship between her and PM Narendra Modi, Qamar Sheikh says that when she met PM Modi, he was just a worker of the Sangh. Then while tying a rakhi to him, I once said that I pray that one day you become the Chief Minister of Gujarat. Hearing this, PM Modi laughed a lot. When my wish turned into reality, during my meeting on Rakshabandhan, he said that what wish have you made for your brother now. Qamar Sheikh says that at that time I had prayed for my brother Narendra Modi to become the Prime Minister of the country and I am lucky that my wish has been answered. Today, he has become the Prime Minister of the country for the third consecutive time.
