New Delhi: The Passport Seva portal will be unavailable for five days starting today (Thursday, 29 August 2024). The official website of Passport Seva has mentioned that as part of planned maintenance, the portal will be unavailable between Thursday, 29 August 2024 at 20:00 hrs IST and Monday, 2 September at 06:00 hrs IST.

During maintenance times, the system will be unavailable to citizens and all MEA/RPO/BOI/ISP/DoP/Law Enforcement authorities.

Passport Seva Portal Technical Maintenance: What will happen to scheduled appointments?

The official website of Passport Seva has said that appointments already booked for August 30, 2024, will be rescheduled accordingly and applicants will be informed.

“The Passport Seva portal will be unavailable due to technical maintenance from Thursday, 29th August 2024, at 20:00 hrs IST to Monday, 2nd September, at 06:00 hrs IST. The system will be unavailable during this period for the citizens and all MEA/RPO/BOI/ISP/DoP/Police authorities. Appointments already booked for 30th August 2024 will be rescheduled accordingly and applicants will be informed,” the official website of Passport Seva said.

Meanwhile, the Ministry of External Affairs has said that many fraudulent websites and mobile applications are collecting data of applicants and charging high fees for completing the online application form and scheduling appointments for passport and related services.

“It has come to the notice of the Ministry that many fraudulent websites and mobile applications are collecting data of applicants and also charging high additional charges for filling the online application form and scheduling an appointment for obtaining passport and related services. Some of these fake websites are registered in the domain name *.org, *.in, *.com such as www.indiapassport.org, www.online-passportindia.com, www.passportindiaportal.in, www.passport-india.in, www.passport-seva.in, www.applypassport.org and many other similar looking websites,” it added.

The Ministry has advised all citizens applying for Indian passport and related services NOT to visit the above mentioned fraudulent websites and make any payments related to passport services. The official website of the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India to apply for passport services is www.passportindia.gov.in.

Alternatively, applicants can also use the official mPassport Seva mobile app, which can be downloaded from the Android and iOS app stores.
