Large companies have been publishing their internship offers in a government portaldesigned to implement the scheme. The portal was launched on October 3 as part of a pilot project of the scheme to improve employability among Indian youth.

Internship applicants can apply through the portal between October 12 and 25, according to officials at the Ministry of Business Affairs, which is implementing the plan.
Once the pilot project is fully implemented in December, the government will continue to expand it to accommodate more applicants, taking into account lessons learned from initial experiences, according to officials. “They will be exposed for 12 months to real business environments, varied professions and employment opportunities,” Sitharaman had said during the budget presentation.
Most large companies including Reliance Industries, Maruti Suzuki India, HDFC Bank, Tata Consultancy Services, ONGC, Hero Motocorp, State Bank of India, Jubilant Foodworks and Muthoot have joined the voluntary scheme.
Some other notable companies are Larsen & Toubro, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Finance, Tech Mahindra, Alembic Pharmaceuticals, Max Life Insurance and Eicher Motor, officials had earlier said. Many companies continue to upload offers or review details. Selected interns will receive a monthly allowance of ₹5,000 for a year, in addition to a one-time grant of ₹6,000. The government will contribute ₹54,000 towards the monthly allowance in addition to the one-time aid, spending a total of ₹60,000 on each intern. The internship plan focuses on young people between 21 and 24 years old, mainly from poor and lower middle class homes. . Caste-based reservations will also be applied in the selection of candidates.
