PM Modi announced compensation for Madhya Pradesh accident

MP News: The wall of a dilapidated house collapsed on Sunday morning in a village in Sagar district of Madhya Pradesh. Nine children were killed and two others were injured in the accident. The accident occurred during a religious programme near a temple complex in Shahpur village in Rahli assembly constituency. According to news agency PTI, nine children aged between 10 and 15 years died after a wall collapsed during a religious programme in Shahpur village. At the same time, Prime Minister Modi and state CM Mohan Yadav expressed deep grief over the incident.

The central and state governments announced compensation
Expressing grief over the incident, Chief Minister Mohan Yadav announced an ex-gratia amount of Rs 4 lakh each to the families of each deceased. At the same time, PM Modi has announced compensation of Rs 2 lakh to the family of the deceased and Rs 50,000 to the injured by the PMNRF.

Accident occurred during religious program
While speaking to the media, local Bharatiya Janata Party MLA Gopal Bhargava said that the Shivalinga construction programme was being organised in a tent near the dilapidated house. Meanwhile, the wall of the house fell on top of the tent due to which many children who were participating in the programme organised for the construction of Shivalinga were buried under the debris. Bhargava said that many of the children who lost their lives in the incident were only children of their parents.

Regarding the incident, District Magistrate Deepak Arya said the children were sitting in a tent set up near the temple, when the wall of the dilapidated house collapsed due to rain.
