Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday announced that 75,000 additional medical seats will be added over the next five years.

Speaking at the Red Fort on the occasion of Independence Day, he said his government’s commitment to reforms extends beyond the financial sectors.

The Prime Minister said: “Every year, around 25,000 young people go abroad to study medicine and they do so in countries like this. I am amazed to hear about them. That is why we have decided to create 75,000 new places in the field of medicine over the next five years.”

On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, Prime Minister Modi said that a “Viksit Bharat” should be a “Healthy Bharat”.

“Viksit Bharat should also mean ‘Healthy Bharat’. The first generation of a prosperous Bharat must be healthy, that is why we have launched Mission Poshan,” the Prime Minister said.

As for economic reforms, he stressed that the youth of our country are not satisfied with gradual progress and strive to achieve significant breakthroughs. The government’s emphasis on reforms is not only on positive media coverage, but on strengthening the country, the Prime Minister said.

“I want to assure our fellow citizens that our commitment to reforms is not for pink paper editorials, but to strengthen the country. Our goal of change is not for debate clubs, intellectual groups or experts. Our commitment is to put the nation first,” he said.

Speaking about the space sector in India, the Prime Minister said that the space sector is important and many reforms have been made in the same.

“Today, many startups are entering this sector. The space sector, which is gaining momentum, is an essential element in making India a powerful nation. We are focusing on this sector and giving it strength with a long-term idea,” the Prime Minister said.
