PM Modi to lay foundation stone of Vadhvan Port worth ₹76,000 crore in Maharashtra — All you need to know

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra on Friday (August 30) to lay the foundation stone of the Rs 76,000 crore Vadhvan Port project in Palghar. He will address the Global Fintech Fest 2024 at the Jio World Convention Centre in Mumbai at 11 am.

At around 1.30 pm, he will inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of various development projects at the CIDCO site, Palghar.

# Located near the town of Dahanu in Palghar district, it will be one of the largest deepwater ports in India and will offer direct connectivity to international shipping routes.# The port aims to establish a world-class maritime gateway that will boost the country’s trade and economic growth by serving large container ships, offering deeper drafts and accommodating ultra-large cargo vessels.

# The port will feature deep berths, efficient cargo handling facilities and modern port management systems.

# It will enhance India’s maritime connectivity and further strengthen its position as a global trading hub.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone of 218 fisheries projects worth approximately Rs 1,560 crore. The projects are expected to generate over 500,000 employment opportunities in the fisheries sector.

It will also launch the National Ship Communication and Support System, which will cost around Rs 360 crore. The Ship Communication and Support System is developed by ISRO and will help establish two-way communication while fishermen are at sea.

He will also inaugurate other initiatives such as the development of fishing ports and integrated water parks. These projects will be implemented in several states. He will lay the foundation for major fisheries infrastructure projects such as the development, upgrading and modernisation of fishing ports, fish landing centres and the construction of fish markets.
