PM Modi will lead the BJP’s election campaign for the Assembly in Jammu and Kashmir, where elections are due

Jammu: Prime minister Narendra Modi will lead the Indian People’s Party (BJP)Rajapaksa’s campaign in the upcoming assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the first such democratic exercise after the former state was downgraded to a Union Territory in August 2019.

Ministers of the Union Nitin GadkariManohar Lal Khattar, G Kishan Reddy, Shivraj Singh ChouhanJitendra Singh and former Union Ministers Anurag Thakur and Iranians killed and General (retd) VK Singh also Rajasthan Prime Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma and former Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur is another prominent face who will visit Jammu and Kashmir during the campaign.

Schedule for third phase elections in Jammu and Kashmir

The Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, to be held in three phases, are scheduled for September 18, September 25 and October 1. The counting of votes will begin on October 4.

In a letter to the Electoral Commission, Indian People’s Party (BJP) National general secretary and in-charge of headquarters Arun Singh said the list of the 40 party activists can be considered valid for the remaining phases “unless we submit an amended list” within the prescribed time frame.

The list also included the former Indian People’s Party (BJP) General Secretary and newly appointed Election Incharge for Jammu and Kashmir Ram Madhav, National General Secretary of the party incharge for Jammu and Kashmir Tarun Chugh, Jammu and Kashmir Indian People’s Party (BJP) Chief Ravinder Raina, MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Rajya Sabha Member Ghulam Ali Khatana, General Secretary (Organisation) Ashok Kaul and Jammu and Kashmir BJP Vice President Sofi Yousuf.
