PMAY assistance amount to be increased to Rs 1.8 lakh; guidelines to be released soon

Bhubaneswar: The financial assistance under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY) will be increased from the current Rs 1.2 lakh to Rs 1.8 lakh. A guideline in this regard will be released soon. Odisha Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department Minister Rabi Narayan Nayak gave this information while talking to reporters on Monday. Talking to reporters, he said that under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana, financial assistance of Rs 1.2 lakh was given to the beneficiaries. It will be increased to Rs 1.8 lakh. If MNREGA is included, the beneficiaries will get around Rs 2 lakh. He said that similarly, the beneficiaries would be given Rs 12,000 for construction of toilets. Now we are planning to increase it to Rs 20,000. Every household in rural Odisha will be a model house with toilet and drinking water supply facility. Shri Nayak said that our government is also planning to start Odisha Antyodaya Griha Yojana. Under this, assistance will be provided to those whose houses have been damaged due to fire, elephant attacks or other natural disasters. Commenting on the Mo Ghar scheme of the previous Naveen Patnaik government, Mr. Nayak said that the housing scheme of the previous BJD government was a political stunt and no one has benefited from the scheme. People have no interest in this scheme.

Steps will be taken to protect the traditions of the tribal community.

Sharing information about the roadmap prepared for the development of 500 tribal villages in Odisha, Minister Shri Nayak said that 64 tribal communities live in Odisha. Unfortunately, the previous BJD government never worked for the upliftment of the tribals. Nayak said that we will try to protect their tradition and ensure proper road connectivity. Besides providing them with pure drinking water, the youth will be brought into the mainstream by providing them with necessary training.
