Police constable recruitment exam begins amid tight security in Uttar Pradesh

Hundreds of thousands of Candidates appeared for the Uttar Pradesh A recruitment exam for police constables was held at 1,174 centres across 67 districts in the state on Friday amid tight security, marking the first day of a five-day exercise. The fresh recruitment exercise is being held after the exams, held on February 17 and 18, were cancelled following allegations of a Paper leak.

“We have inspected the security arrangements at the examination centres. The examinations are being conducted in a smooth and proper manner. CCTV cameras are functioning properly as expected by the recruitment board, administration and police,” said Director General of Police (DGP) Prashant Kumar.

According to the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board, the exam will be conducted in two shifts over five days: August 23, 24, 25, 30 and 31.

The first shift will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., while the second will start at 3 p.m. and end at 5 p.m.

Around 9.5 lakh candidates are expected to appear for the exam on each of the five days, government officials said.

The government has implemented strict security measures at each center to prevent the use of unfair means, officials said.
