‘Pradhan Mantri Higher Education Campaign’ kicked off in Odisha and will get Rs 500 crore

Odisha News: The Odisha government launched ‘Pradhan Mantri Uchchatar Shiksha Abhiyan’ (PM-USHA) in the state. The state government signed an MoU with the Union Education Ministry for launching the PM-USHA programme in the presence of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi and state Higher Education Minister Suryabanshi Suraj.

Historic day for Odisha – Dharmendra Pradhan

Dharmendra Pradhan August 31st Odisha Terming it as a historic day towards strengthening the higher education scenario, he said the Central Government will provide financial assistance of Rs 500 crore to various higher education institutions in Odisha for infrastructure and other development activities.

What is PM-USHA?

He said, ‘PM-USHA is an important initiative of the Centre towards implementation of the National Education Policy 2020. It promotes Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of achieving higher levels of access, equity and excellence in the higher education system of the state with greater efficiency, transparency and accountability. 60 per cent of the allotted grant will be released by the Centre and 40 per cent will be borne by the state.
