A 21-year-old woman was allegedly gang-raped by three men and her friend was tied to a tree and beaten on the outskirts of Pune city in Maharashtra. The police gave this information on Friday. Along with this, the portrait of the accused in the case has also been released.
Police said this incident took place in Bopdev Ghat area on Thursday night around 11 pm. Police on Friday released “sketches” of the two suspects and sought the public’s help in capturing them. Police said the incident took place in Kondhwa police station area. According to Kondhwa police, the woman had gone to that area with a friend.
Additional Commissioner of Police Ranjan Kumar Sharma said, “According to preliminary information, the woman and her friend had gone to the Bopdev Ghat area late at night, where three unidentified persons allegedly raped her (the woman).” . He said the three first tied the woman’s friend to a tree at the crime scene and then took turns raping him.
10 teams investigate the case
Sharma said the woman along with her friend reached the Maharashtra government-run Sassoon General Hospital in Pune city, after which the police received information about the incident around 5 am on Friday. He said 10 police teams have been formed to locate the accused. Another official from Kondhwa police station said the incident took place at a secluded place and the trio also assaulted the woman’s friend.
Meanwhile, the police sent a forensic team to the spot and also took the help of sniffer dogs to gather clues and locate the accused.
“We have prepared sketches of two suspects based on the description given by the woman’s friend,” the officer said. The police have provided three mobile phone numbers (8691999689, 8275200947, 9307545045) and have appealed to the public to contact them if they have any information about the case.
