Punjab woman claims dismissal for Raksha Bandhan leave; company tells her ‘Don’t play the victim’

A woman from Punjab has sparked a debate on social media after sharing her experience with a “toxic boss”. She posted on LinkedIn that her company had fired her for standing up for employees’ rights. According to her, the company wanted to cut seven days’ salary from those who took a day off for work. Raksha Bandhan on August 19. In her LinkedIn post, she wrote, “I tried to stand up for what was legally correct, but instead I received a termination letter. My boss mentioned in an email that I would be given two weeks’ notice, but revoked all my access immediately, forcing me to leave. This is the conversation with my boss, where he fired me because I objected to the idea of ​​deducting seven days’ pay for one day of absence.” She also shared screenshots of her conversation with her boss.

In response, the company accused the woman of playing the victim and seeking undue pity. It also claimed that she was not diligent in her work and often used work hours to help her daughter with her homework.

The incident has divided netizens, with many voicing their support for the woman. One commenter said: “It seems the boss is still promoting colonial rule and slavery. Stay strong.” Another added: “It seems you challenged him in a way he couldn’t handle. File a lawsuit at the labour court for wrongful dismissal, workplace bullying and harassment. It’s heartening to see HR managers like you who actually stand up for what’s right. Don’t let this happen.”
