QCOs support MSMEs, stop substandard imports and make industry competitive: Piyush Goyal

New Delhi: The government is supporting the micro, small and medium enterprises (MSME) sector through Quality Control Orders (QCO), trade and industry minister Piyush Goyal he said on Saturday.

“We are giving time to SMEs to meet the requirements,” he said at the 10th India International MSME Startup Expo & Summit 2024.

The minister said that MSMEs will benefit for two reasons: QCO arrest spurious goods imported at strange rates, which protects them from unfair competition and when MSMEs comply with the requirements Rulescan become competitive both nationally and internationally and be profitable.

“There are numerous examples of how QCs have benefited individual sectors… If MSMEs do this, the consumer will be happy and India will also become… self-sufficient“, said.

An MSME should not be seen as just a small business and its thinking should not be small or negative, Goyal said, adding that the entire ecosystem around large industries and businesses comprises such businesses without which they cannot succeed.

“MSMEs act as suppliers and customers of large industries,” he said. Goyal stressed that MSMEs play an important role in the development of tourism and infrastructure in the country and have a major stake in India’s growth. Exports.
