R Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan shares a special story after her husband scored another Test century for India | Cricket News

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja bailed India out of trouble after their team’s top order collapsed at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. On Day 1 between India and Bangladesh’s Test, Rohit Sharma’s side was reeling at a time when they were 144/6. R Ashwin and Jadeja joined forces as the bowler of the season also scored his sixth Test hundred for his country.

Ravichandran Ashwin and Ravindra Jadeja’s rearguard performance saved India in the first innings of the first Test against Bangladesh, with both all-rounders unbeaten at the end of the first day’s play. At stumps on the first day, Team India were at 339/6, with Ashwin (102*) and Jadeja (86*) looking strong after an unbeaten 195-run partnership. Ashwin’s wife Prithi Narayanan, who was also present at the venue, shared a special story on Instagram after her husband completed his sixth Test century. Watch the story below…

Bangladesh could not maintain their momentum after picking up six wickets in the first two sessions of the day and ended up conceding 163 runs in the third session, failing to make a breakthrough.

Coming to the crease in the 43rd over, Ashwin was quick to smash a few boundaries to keep the pressure at bay. Jadeja assisted the 38-year-old as the two formed a solid partnership. Jadeja also maintained a good strike rate and the Bangladesh bowlers were unable to maintain the pressure.

India surpassed the 300-run mark in the 73rd over after playing 439 balls. Ashwin’s sixth century in a Test came in the 78th over. It was also his second hundred on his home ground. In the first two sessions of the day, the hosts struggled and lost wickets quickly. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s fifty helped stabilise the innings to some extent. He scored a valiant 56 off 118 deliveries.

At Tea, India were at 176 for 6 with Ravindra Jadeja (7*) and Ravichandran Ashwin (21*).

The post-lunch session resumed at 88/3 and Jaiswal and Rishabh Pant at the crease. Pant was dismissed on 39 by Hasan Mahmud and it was his fourth wicket.

KL Rahul came to the crease and scored 16 and was dismissed by Mehidy Hasan Miraz when the score was 144. At the same score, Jaiswal was dismissed after scoring 56 runs which came with the help of nine boundaries. After Jaiswal’s departure, Ashwin joined Jadeja and both of them built a 32-run partnership at Tea.

Apart from Mahmud, Nahid Rana and Mehidy Hasan Miraz took one wicket each. (Who is Hasan Mahmud? The Bangladesh player who dismissed Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill in a single spell)

Bangladesh captain Najmul Hossain Shanto won the toss and opted to bowl in the first Test match of the two-match series that began on Thursday. Both teams decided to field three bowlers each, given the overcast conditions that promised help for the fast bowlers.

From Bangladesh Hasan Mahmud was the standout bowler in the first session. Masterfully exploiting the conditions, he claimed all three wickets, constantly putting the Indian batsmen in trouble with his movement and accuracy. Both captain Rohit Sharma and star batsman Virat Kohli were bowled out cheaply, scoring six runs each. Rohit and Jaiswal opened the Indian innings and at the end of the first session, the hosts were 88 for 3. Jaiswal, unbeaten on 37, and Pant, not out on 33, were at the crease, having steadied the ship after the initial blows. (With inputs from ANI)
